OUR STORY

A Wyoming firm with a nationwide reach.

Founded in Sheridan in 2009 on a simple frustration: good tax help shouldn't disappear the day after April 15th.

HOW WE STARTED

Built around the part everyone else skips.

The firm began with a pattern our founders kept running into: clients arriving in spring with a shoebox, a filing deadline, and a preparer from last year who no longer returned calls. The return would get filed. The planning that would have made it a better return never happened, because nobody was there in October to have that conversation.

So the practice was built the other way around. Bookkeeping and tax preparation live under the same roof, which means the person filing your return has been looking at your numbers all year. Planning conversations happen in the autumn, while decisions can still be changed. And the phone gets answered in July.

What started as a local Wyoming practice now serves clients in every state — remote filing, secure document exchange, and video meetings made geography largely irrelevant. What hasn't changed is the size of the team relative to the number of clients, which is deliberate. There is a limit to how many people one advisor can actually know.

HOW WE WORK

Six things we don't compromise on.

None of these are remarkable on their own. Holding all six at once, consistently, is the whole business.

We answer the phone

Not a queue, not a ticket, not a different person each time. You have a preparer, you know their name, and they are reachable in July when something comes up — which is usually when it does.

We explain the why

You should finish every conversation understanding what we did and what it means. If an explanation only works in jargon, it isn't an explanation. We'd rather spend the extra ten minutes.

We quote before we start

You get a clear number after the intro call, before any work begins. If the scope changes materially, we tell you before it does, not on the invoice.

We tell you when the answer is no

Some structures aren't worth the cost. Some deductions aren't defensible. Some situations don't need a firm like ours at all. Saying so costs us work occasionally and it is still the right call.

Everything is reviewed twice

One person prepares, another reviews, on every return without exception. The second reader is checking judgment as much as arithmetic — whether a position is supportable and whether the file contradicts it.

We plan, not just file

By the time a return is due, the decisions that shaped it are already made. The work that changes outcomes happens in the fall, which is when we want to be talking to you.

CREDENTIALED & ACCOUNTABLE

Who's actually doing the work.

Tax preparation is largely unregulated — in most states anyone can charge to prepare a return. Our team is credentialed, and the distinction matters most at exactly the moment you'd want it to.

Certified Public Accountants

State-licensed, with continuing education requirements and a professional code of conduct. Our CPAs handle complex business filings, entity structuring, and financial statement work.

Enrolled Agents

Federally authorized tax practitioners, credentialed specifically in taxation, with unlimited rights to represent taxpayers before the IRS. Our EAs lead examination and representation work.

QuickBooks ProAdvisors

Certified in the accounting platforms most of our clients run on, which matters when books need setting up properly or rebuilding from a system that never fit the business.

A practice built on staying, not churning.

Most of our clients have been with us for years. That continuity is how we catch the details a one-time preparer never would — the carryforward from four years ago, the basis nobody tracked, the election that no longer fits.

WHERE WE ARE

Sheridan, Wyoming.

Our office sits on 30 N Gould St in downtown Sheridan. Clients in the area are welcome to come in — plenty still prefer to, and we like it that way. Coffee is generally available and the parking is free, which in this line of work counts as a benefit.

Everyone else works with us entirely remotely: documents through the secure portal, review by phone or video, signatures handled electronically. In practice the experience is the same, and the majority of our clients have never been to Sheridan at all.
